Dreamed of plans forestalled and frustrated. I was living in an enormous, maze-like house, and my sisters came to call. They created messes in every room they passed through, and I wasted a great deal of time cleaning up after them. My mother had several emergency visits to the hospital and I am ashamed to say that I felt overly burdened and angry every time it would occur. I knew that I had to be in the office working on a project for my boss, or on a conference call, or …something important, along those lines. Her sickness was interfering with my effectiveness as an employee and was reflecting poorly upon me. At some point in the dream my significant other revealed to me that he was already engaged to marry another woman; he promised he would take care of the issue, but when he left, he never came back.

I vowed to fix all of these problems in one fell swoop. I gathered a basket of several random, non-related items (pickles, screwdrivers, VHS tapes) and settled started writing a spell that would solve as a solution to all of these issues. When I looked at what I had written though, it was merely a grocery list.

Recently, while on a bit of an Arabian Nights kick, I came across this illustration, by Warwick Goble. While I knew it was not related, I didn’t know at the time exactly what it was from. Mystery solved! Like the image above, it is from the 1913 edition of Indian Myth and Legend by Donald MacKenzie.
